The Mission of the Ozanaman Blog:
(Revised 4/1/08)
This Blog derives its name from Blessed Antonia Frederic Ozanaman. I have selected him as its patron and model of Charity and Justice. He co-founded the St. Vincent de Paul Society with several members of his Secular Franciscan fraternity. He was a man of right Reason and living Faith.
With The Ozanaman Blog, I seek to Evangelize by proclaiming the Gospel of Life, entrusted by Christ to “His Church, the Household of Faith” (c.f. 1 Timothy 3:14-15). With a special out-reach to Mormons and former Mormons looking for resources to discern and embrace the Gospel of Life, in the light of the Catholic and Apostolic witness of the Church, in union with the successor of St. Peter and the bishops in union with him. With that successor, currently being Pope Benedict (XVI) of Rome.
With The Ozanaman Blog, I seek to Educate and Challenge its readers to know and embrace natural law and revealed law, more fully-- by better understanding its moral/social obligations as the framework for true justice and peace among men and nations, according to the will of God.
With The Ozanaman Blog, I seek to Cultivate the spirit and culture of Life by sharing my own Articles/Poetry/Images or I have discovered in the rich heritage Salvation history.
With The Ozanaman Blog, I seek to Inform its readers by providing timely and accurate news information about the events in and about the Church and temporal Societies. The news information will focus on clarifying the moral issues of the day, not to set or encourage any given party agenda or view.
With The Ozanaman Blog, I seek to Foster authentic dialogue between myself and other persons of good will for our betterment and the common good of all persons.
The fulfillment of this mission is rooted in the following:
1. That essential purpose of my vocation as a human person and as mine as a writer of Faith, is one and the same: to embrace Christ crucified and risen, and to give a clear witness to Him as the means of justification and salvation of all men before the Father.
2. That my witness is derived from hearing the Son and the Spirit who has revealed the Gospel of Life, first through the prophets and later through the incarnation of Son.
3. That the Witness of the Son and the Spirit is contained in the Sacred Scriptures and the Tradition entrusted to the Church, and most full experienced in an active liturgical life in union with the Church and most clearly discerned by listening to the magisterial pronouncements of the Church.
4. Those who confess Christ must seek to know and agree with the doctrine of the Christ through His Church, the Household of Faith and the Pillar of Truth. (C.f. 1 Timothy 3:14-15).
5. Doctrine is a statement of belief. Theology is ones personal articulation of doctrinal beliefs, with ones personal preference of emphasis and focus. Morality is the sacred science or study of right and wrong conduct of person(s). Politics is the art and science of governing persons and societies
6. Personally, I embrace the Catholic Franciscan theological tradition especially articulate in the writings and examples of
St. Adam Chmielowski: Blessed Bartholomew Marquez: St. Elizabeth Seton: Blessed Fredrick Ozanaman (patron of this blog): G.K. Chesterton: Blessed John XXIII of Rome: Saint John Baptist de Sale: St Katherine Drexel: Pope Leo XIII: St. Louis XI of France: St. Maxilian Kolbe: St. Pius X: Pope Pius XII: St Thomas More:Venerable Fulton J. Sheen
7. Non-Franciscan yet Catholic major theological influences have been:
St. Andrew Kim of Korea: Benedict XVI: St. Benedictia of the Holy Cross (Edith Stein): Pope John Paul (II) the Great: Saint Francis de Sales: Saint Josaphat Kuntsevich: Maccebean Martyrs: Venerable Michael J. McGivney: St. Peter Claver St. Rafca of Lebanon: Blessed Samuel Mazzuchelli:Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati.
7b. note most are Dominicans or were Eastern Catholics.
8. I now ask our Incarnate Savior and Blessed Lord through their holy prayers and the prayers of His holy servants, the Archangels: Michael, Gabriel and Raphael that I would be a true witness to Gospel of Life and all be blessed in my witness to Gospel of Life.
Be Praised!! "Holy Trinity-One God" Be Praised!!
